Question asked:
how we can monitor the infrastructure latency with our solution?. if we do capture in one point we can provide the reference from that specific point right? but customer was asking how we can provide the time it takes when we receive the packets in the input point of the network and know how much time it takes to arrive to the application, in order to validate that the infrastructure is operating properly.
I was thinking in a configuration where we have a capture point in the edge of the network and then another capture close to the application.
Answer:
In order to do this, we would need to have an Active Instance for each link segment. For example, you would have 4 active instances in the below illustration (btw, that’s the max a single GigaStor supports, anymore, add additional GigaStor’s). You will need to ask if in any of these segments there’s NAT or PAT translations. What I do next is create a custom dashboard with widgets and you have to specify each Active Instance as a key field. Then add you’re various metrics to the widget – see 2nd illustration. You will clearly see the various latency details per active instance/network segment. EUE will be the same in each because the TCP layer doesn’t change in any of the segments.
