Here is the scenario with different VIAVI Observer appliances or software in different time zones:
It is currently 12:00 PM in North Carolina, which means it is 11:00 AM in Minnesota, 10:00 AM in Colorado, and 9:00 AM in California. That is 6:00PM UTC time or 18:00 using a 24 hour clock). Everything is stored using the UTC time.
There is a GigaStor in North Carolina, I am in Minnesota, a GigaStor in Colorado and an Apex in California.
When I go to Apex, and run a report for the last hour, Apex will show data from 10:00AM to 11:00AM, based on my local time zone CST.
If I do a trace extraction from the North Carolina GigaStor for the Last Hour, I will select a time range from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. The REST API will send the request to North Carolina for data from 17:00 to 18:00 UTC time.
When I view that capture on my local laptop it will show packets ranging from 10:00 to 11:00AM.
If I do a trace extraction from the Colorado GigaStor for the Last Hour, I will again select a time range from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. The REST API will send the request to Denver for data from 17:00 to 18:00 UTC time.
When I view that capture on my local laptop it will show packets ranging from 10:00 to 11:00AM.
