If either the GSE or Branch GS terminate a GRE tunnel, performance goes down as it has a bit of overhead due to the IP stack required to terminate the GRE tunnel. The GS Branch and GSE have all IP options turned off except the VMONI driver which enables 2Gbps of throughput. The recommendation is to have a packet broker terminate the tunnel and send non-GRE tunnel traffic to the GSE/Branch
